Royal Brunei Airlines orders four 787 Dreamliners
Royal Brunei Airlines has signed an order for four 787-9 Dreamliners as part of the national carrier’s widebody fleet renewal plan. “Royal Brunei Airlines has been operating the 787-8 for the last 10 years and this order will ensure we continue with a product that our customers have come to enjoy,” commented Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, CEO of Royal Brunei Airlines. The airline was the first Southeast Asian carrier to fly the 787 Dreamliner over a decade ago and currently operates five 787-8s. “The 787-9 will deliver the versatility, efficiency and range that Royal Brunei Airlines desire to pursue increasing air travel and tourism opportunities,” added brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing. With a range of 7.565 nautical miles and a capacity of nearly 20% more passengers than the 787-8, the 787-9 will support the airline’s medium and long-haul routes to Asia, Australia, the Middle East and the UK.
