Rolls-Royce has successfully launched its first test flight for its latest aero engines for the business aviation market, the Pearl 10X, on the company's dedicated 747 flying testbed. The engine has been selected by Dassault to exclusively power its new aircraft, the Falcon 10X.
""We are excited to enter into this important next phase of the engine development programme with the start of our flight test campaign,"" said Dassault senior vice president business aviation, Rolls-Royce Philipp Zeller.
Flight tests will carry on over the next few months, based in Tucson, Arizona, testing its engine performance, handling checks at various speeds and altitudes, inflight relights, anti-icing systems, and fan vibrations at various altitudes.
Zeller added: ""All the tests completed to date confirm the reliability of the engine and show it will meet the performance requirements to power Dassault’s flagship, the Falcon 10X.""
