Riyadh Air reportedly set to place firm order for 25 A350-1000s

Riyadh Air is set to place a firm order for 25 Airbus A350-1000 jets, Reuters reported, citing industry sources said.

The Saudi Arabian startup — previously reported to be considering buying up to 50 jets — hinted a potential announcement during the upcoming Paris Air Show, posting top social media that the airline will be “unveiling the next chapter” of its journey at the show.

The airline is expected to make its maiden flight later this year.

Speaking at an Aviation Club luncheon in November 2024, Tony Douglas, CEO of the airline, confirmed that airline was seeking another widebody order, with an announcement on this purchase expected during 2025. No details into the size of the order were given at the time.

Douglas confirmed at the event that the airline was considering either A350-1000s or 777X jets.

Reuters also reported that fellow Public Investment Fund subsidiary AviLease is also seen as close to a deal for 40 Airbus planes.
