Qatar cancels 737 MAX 10 order

Qatar Airways CEO confirmed the airline has cancelled its 737 MAX 10 order in an interview with Bloomberg Television

The airline's CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer said the company's narrowbody fleet is focussing on the A321neo aircraft.

“We are focussed on one type of aircraft for our narrowbody fleet, which is the A321neo, and this is our strategy,” said Al Meer. “We had nine 737 MAX 8s and those we are basically leasing to Indigo for them to fly to Doha.

“On the longer term, we have an order for 25 737 MAX 10s… we agreed with Boeing to replace them with additional 787-9.”

These additions were reworked into the widebody deal announced on May 14, 2025. The deal consists of 130 firm for the 787 Dreamliner and 30 777-9s. The deal has options for up to 50 additional 787 and 777X jets.

Qatar's order for 25 737 MAX 10s, along with options for 25 more, was signed in 2022.
