Qatar Airways inks MoUs with China Southern Airlines, United Nations
Qatar Airways has signed memorandum of understandings (MoU) with both China Southern Airlines and the United Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA). The airline will work with the OCHA to support humanitarian efforts, while its MoU with China Southern includes a codeshare agreement, as well as collaboration on cargo and frequent flyer programmes. ""As part of our robust partnership with China Southern Airlines, Qatar Airways is building on the success of the new route from Doha to Guangzhou, which was launched in April this year, to offer more choice to both airline passengers,"" said Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. ""It is a proud milestone for us to serve the prominent Chinese market in collaboration with our key partner, and look forward to extending our award-winning offerings to travellers flying through China."" China Southern Air president and CEO Han Wensheng commented: ""In the future, China Southern Airlines will deepen cooperation with Qatar Airways, strengthen complementary advantages, and work together to bring more comfortable and convenient travel experiences to our passengers."" Qatar Airways and China Southern will collaborate to provide their loyalty members’ frequent flyer benefits. These include collecting and spending respective mile points on both Qatar Airways and China Southern flights, as well as tier benefits in the form of lounge access and other airport offerings. Qatar's partnership with the OCHA will support the office in a unified programme through advocacy, cargo services, fundraising, and more. ""Qatar Airways Group is proud to work hand-in-hand with the OCHA to support the organisation of humanitarian responses, especially during times of crises,"" said Al-Meer. ""Our cargo division is set to provide transportation of aid and emergency materials to our network"". Qatar Airways Cargo is committed to providing the transportation of up to 10 tonnes of humanitarian cargo.
