Qatar Airways cuts A380 routes

Qatar Airways has made some significant changes in its flight schedule for A380 operations for summer 2023, as per the scheduled weekend filing report. Qatar has completely removed the A380 from the Doha-Paris route and has halved the Bangkok flights.

As of now, Qatar won’t be flying the A380 to Paris next summer. The decision is surprising for analysts as the airline had planned to fly twice daily on the Paris route. The A380 Doha-Paris flight was started in December 2021 and operated one flight daily.

On the other hand, Qatar plans to operate three flights daily to Doha with slight changes, initially the A380 was to operate twice daily along with one flight of A330-300. The changed schedule indicated one A380 flight, one B777-300ER, and one A330-300 flight.

As Qatar plans to put a stop to the Doha-Paris route, the Doha-Perth route will be operating on the A380s starting this December with the incoming holiday season followed by the peak summer of 2023.

Earlier in June 2022, Qatar’s CEO had hinted about grounding the A380s as obtaining spare parts for existing A380 jets was becoming more difficult as Airbus ended the A380 programme.
