Qatar Airways is reportedly finalising an order for around 100 Boeing widebody jets, with an option for as many more, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with deliberations.
This deal is expected to be announced during US President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to the Middle East next week, which will see the President visit Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
In addition to orders from Qatar Airways, the media outlet also stated that a number of Middle Eastern carriers are racing to secure major agreements ahead of President Trump's upcoming visit to the region.
The report noted that Qatar is focused on adding both 787 aircraft and a smaller number of 777X jets to its fleet.
Qatar Airways declined to respond to Airline Economics' request for comment. Boeing has also been contacted.
