Qantas has lost its sponsorship deal with the Australian Football League (AFL) to rival Virgin Blue after a nine-year relationship.
The $5-6 million annual deal has been passed to Virgin Blue and will take effect from December.
Local news reports suggest even though the offers were similar, Qantas refused AFL’s demands exclusivity as it also had deals with soccer, rugby and rugby league.
