Qantas has postponed the launch of its A220 on international routes, delaying its inaugural service between Darwin and Singapore by seven months.
The new route, operated by the airline’s regional subsidiary QantasLink, will commence as planned on March 30, 2025, but will use 737 aircraft instead of the A220. This schedule is currently in place until at least October of this year.
Qantas has also revised the number of flights flown on this route per week from five to four, until October.
“The adjustment will see the A220 redeployed across domestic routes to support important pilot conversion training pipelines on the A220, until additional A220 aircraft arrive later this year,” a spokesperson from Qantas told Airline Economics.
The spokesperson also emphasised that Qantas is committed to the Northern Territory and has made this adjustment to maintain connectivity for the region.
