PLAY goes transatlantic

Iceland’s newest low-cost airline, PLAY, has announced that from 20 April 2022, PLAY will operate services from London Stansted to Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), and from 11 May 2022 to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

Transatlantic flights to Baltimore/Washington will depart from London Stansted four times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun) with a 1 hour 25 minutes layover in Reykjavik. Flights to Boston will also depart four times a week, with a 1 hour 50 minutes layover.

PLAY CEO Birgir Jónsson said: “Travellers around the world are hungry to venture to new destinations and we’re proud to expand PLAY’s service to the United States, offering both American and European travellers a new way to reach iconic destinations. With our reliable and affordable flights, travellers can enjoy their holiday destination rather than overspending on the flight to get there.”

To date, PLAY has flown more than 87,500 passengers across Europe with an on-time arrival rate over 96%. PLAY’s pay-for-what-you-need model keeps its fares affordable. A personal item is included for the flight, and passengers can choose which upgrades they need for their trip, such as a carry-on, checked bag, special bags for items such as golf sets, skis, buggies, and musical instruments, seats with extra legroom, cancellation protection, and more.
