Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken delivery of its third A320 into its fleet as part of its deal with AerCap. More planes are expected to be delivered in the coming weeks. All the planes are configured for economy class with 174-seat layouts. PIA currently has a fleet of 13 A320s.
Commenting on the arrival of the A320, PIA CEO Arshad Malik, said: “The new aircraft would replace outgoing planes with expired leases and offer an improved travel experience for passengers.”
In an attempt to modernise its fleet and improve cost efficiency, PIA revealed its plans of adding five widebody aircraft, with capacities ranging from 250 to 320 with a dry lease agreement for long-haul travel.
PIA reported a loss of $514 million in the first half of 2022, which was more than double its loss in 2021.
