During November the Norwegian Group carried a total of 1.86 million passengers, with Norwegian carrying a total of 1.53 million passengers and Widerøe serving 326,000.

Norwegian recorded a 28% increase in capacity, measured in available seat kilometres, compared to November 2023. Similarly, passenger traffic measured in revenue passenger kilometres also saw an increase of 28%.

The airline's load factor improved slightly by 0.1 percentage point to 82.5%. However, punctuality declined by 5.8 percentage points from the same period last year, averaging at 81%. During the month, Norwegian operated an average of 75 aircraft.

“We are pleased that Norwegian delivered a small increase in load factor while at the same time achieving substantial double digit capacity growth compared to last year,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian. “Despite the unit revenue being impacted by a substantial increase in average flight distance, the unit cost is also substantially lower. November brought several days of challenging weather conditions that affected our operations.”

Elsewhere within the group, Widerøe carried 15% more passengers in comparison to the same month of last year.  Capacity also saw an increase of 3% when compared to November of 2023.

Commenting on the airline’s performance for the month, Widerøe CEO Tore Jenssen added: “We are not at all satisfied with the operational quality that we are delivering at the moment. The poor regularity is due to a number of unfortunate circumstances that in total create major problems for operations. We are in the middle of the perfect storm.”

The airline further noted that the autumn period has been characterised by severe weather impeding the airline’s operations within Norway: “Strong winds, snowfall and freezing rain meant the planes have been taking a beating, and we are working hard to minimise the burden on our passengers,” noted the airline.
