Norwegian received delivery of two new 737 MAX 8 aircraft to its fleet in January. The aircraft will be used for its summer programme, which consists of 344 routes to over 120 destinations.
“We are experiencing high demand for the Easter holidays, and we advise those planning to travel during this period to book early," said Norwegian CEO Geir Karlsen. "Our preparations for the busy summer have begun, and we see that customers are eager to book early.”
In addition, Norwegian Group carried 1.6 million passengers in January 2025, consisting of Norwegian's passengers totalling 1.3 million and its regional airline Wideroe carrying 294,000 passengers in the month.
Norwegian's passengers increased 12%, while Wideroe was up 19%, compared to January 2024. Norwegian's capacity was up 23% and Wideroe was up 4%. Revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) were up 22% in the month.
Passenger load factor for Norwegian was 71.3%, up 2.6 percentage points and Wideroe was up 6.1 percentage points to 68.4%.
“While 2024 was marked with solid capacity growth, particularly in recent winter months, we will dedicate 2025 to cost initiatives and improved utilisation of capacity,” said Karlsen.
The airline also launched its winter routes for 2025, including direct flights from London Gatwick, Manchester, and Edinburgh to various Nordic destinations.
