A Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing in southern Germany on June 4, 2025, due to heavy turbulence from a thunderstorm, resulting in nine injured passengers.
Police in the German state of Bavaria said a Ryanair flight between Berlin and Milan landed safely in Memmingen, after bad weather prompted the pilot to make an emergency landing.
On board the aircraft were 179 passengers and six crew members.
In a statement, Ryanair said the captain of the flight called ahead for medical assistance and the aircraft landed normally.
Three people were taken to hospital in Memmingen for treatment, the remaining six injured passengers were treated at the scene.
The airline also stated that it arranged for alternative transport from Memmingen to Milan after the plane landed in Memmingen, as well as a replacement flight this morning.
Police stated that an onward flight to Milan was not approved by the Southern Bavaria Air Authority, meaning remaining passengers were transported to Milan by bus.
