Nigerian-born resident of Ghana, Ademola Ismaila Adegoke, has been jailed for 102 months after he was convicted of using stolen credit card numbers to steal more than $400,000 from US citizens in an airline ticket scam.
Adegoke, agreed to pay $696,026 in restitution, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in a US District Court in July.
Court documents show Adegoke used faxed copies of counterfeit passports and drivers licences and stolen credit card numbers to fool North american travel agents and airlines into supplying him with tickets, which he then sold on at a reduced rate.
Adegoke was arrested by in Ghana in May and was extradited to the US in late June.
