An estimated that 1.5 million aviation professionals will be needed globally by 2034, according to a new forecast released at the Paris Air Show.

CAE’s biennial Aviation Talent Forecast states that 1.29 million commercial aviation professionals will be needed by 2034 - 267,000 pilots, 347,000 aviation maintenance technicians, and 678,000 cabin crew - with the largest percentage required to meet a rapidly rising demand in the Asia Pacific region.

“With commercial and business aviation fleets expected to see double digit increases over the next ten years, the industry must take action to attract, train, and retain personnel,” said Marie-Christine Cloutier, vice-president – strategy, performance, air traffic services & marketing at CAE.

The forecast notes that in order to meet rising demand, the aviation industry needs to be “proactive”, stating that adaptability and optimised training will be essential to supplying this increased demand.
