New data reveals the most on-time airlines and airports during August

Data released by Cirium has shown a decrease in regional flight cancellations and improvements and airports during the month of August.

The data highlights that flight cancellations decreased from between 5 – 37% in the Asia/Pacific, Europe, North America and Middle East and Africa regions, although there was an increase of 6% in Latin America.

Looking at airline on-time performance (OTP) - Aeromexico saw the best results with an OTP of 86.54% for the month – in comparison to 81.56% in July. Saudia closely followed with an OTP of 84.60% and Avianca came in at third place with an OTP of 83.19%.

Taking a look at global airport data for the month, and Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) saw the best on-time departure rate with 84.33% of flights departing the airport on time during August. Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) came in at second with 83.11% of flights leaving on time and Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) came in at third with 83% of flights departing as scheduled.
