Munich Airport records "strong" growth in 2024

Munich Airport has reported an increase in passenger traffic for 2024, with a total of 41.6 million travellers passing through its terminals – rising by 4.5 million compared to the previous year.

Aircraft movements also saw an increase of 8% to over 327,000 take-offs and landings. At around 82%, seat load factors also exceeded the figures from 2023.

The Bavarian airport noted that this positive trajectory was primarily due to the “dynamic growth” in European and intercontinental departures. Flights to destinations within Europe and the Mediterranean saw a 12% increase. Long-haul flights increased by 17%.

"I am delighted that we can report such strong growth in both passenger numbers and destinations in Munich,” said Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport. “This confirms that there is high demand for air travel and underlines the Munich hub's importance to the economy and population of Bavaria.”

The airport’s freight sector also saw growth during the year, with air freight volumes rising by 11% to 308,000 metric tons.

Munich was the fastest growing German airport during 2024.
