In the first nine months of 2025, MTU Aero Engines' adjusted revenues have climbed 19% year over year to €6.3bn. The company's adjusted operating profit was up 34% to €995 million ($1.2bn), while adjusted EBIT margin increased from 14% to 15.9%. Adjusted net profit rose 33% to €720 million ($842 million).
“Yet again, these strong results demonstrate MTU's outstanding market position and operational performance,” said MTU Aero Engines CEO Johannes Bussmann. “We are now able to provide a more precise guidance for the full year. 2025 is set to be another excellent year for MTU.”
The company expects a mid-twenties percentage increase in adjusted EBIT for the year, which is in the upper end of its previous guidance range.
Free cash flow is set to be between €350 and €400 million ($409.5 and $468 million), up from previous guidance of €300 to €350 million.
Revenue outlook for the year was maintained at €8.6 to €8.8bn ($10.1 to $10.3bn), with all business areas expected to contribute to revenue growth.
Commercial maintenance is expected to see the strongest gains, with organic revenue growth reaching mid- to high-teens and MRO services for Pratt & Whitney's geared turbofan (GTF) engine to account for around 40%.
For the first nine months of the year, GTF MRO had also accounted for 40% of commercial maintenance revenue. Overall, the segment's adjusted revenues climbed from €3.6bn ($4.2bn) to €4.3bn ($5bn).
Additionally, the GTF and the GEnx engines were the “main revenue drivers” for the company's commercial engine business so far in 2025. Commercial engine revenues climbed €200 million to €1.6bn ($1.9bn).
“High-margin spare and lease engines continued to account for a large proportion of revenue in the series business during the first nine months," said Katja Garcia Vila, chief financial officer of MTU. “However, from a quarterly perspective, the trend is changing.”
As of the end of September, the company's backlog totalled €24.1bn ($28.2bn), down from €28.7bn ($33.6bn) a year prior. This was largely due to exchange rate effects.
The GTF engine held the largest proportion of orders on hand, particularly for the PW1100G-JM and the V2500 versions of the engine family.
