Two Middle-Eastern carriers have made a number of flight cancellations to destinations throughout the Middle-East, in response to an escalation of tensions within the region.
A series of missile strikes in the region - most recently on October 1, when Iran launched over 180 missiles at Israel - has led to the closure of a large portion of airspace.
In a passenger announcement, a spokesperson for Emirates said: “Emirates is cancelling all regular flights to and Basra and Baghdad, Tehran, and Amman on 4th and 5th October due to regional unrest.”
These cancellations follow the airline’s earlier suspension of flights to and from Beirut.
“We continue to closely monitor the situation in the region and are in contact with the relevant authorities regarding developments. Emirates is cancelling flights between Dubai and Beirut until 8 October 2024,” added the airline spokesperson.
Following suit, Qatar Airways has also temporarily suspended flights to and from Iraq, Iran and Lebanon destinations.
The Qatari flag carrier has not confirmed when its schedule to the affected destinations will resume,
