Manchester Airport's March traffic at 92% of pre-lockdown period

Manchester Airport said it "served almost two million passengers" in March 2023, a 30% increase on March 2022 and more than 92% of pre-pandemic levels.

The March numbers were followed by the "smooth" passage of more than 300,000 passengers through the airport during the Easter weekend, 99.5% of them getting through security in 15 minutes or less, the airport reported.

“We want every passenger to have a great experience here at Manchester Airport and we are pleased to have delivered a really positive start to the summer season, including during the busy Easter weekend," said managing director Chris Woodroofe.

"We’ve put in a range of new measures this year to give people a great experience, from a state-of-the-art queue monitoring system to a new 100-person resilience team that can troubleshoot a range of issues across the airport," Woodroofe added.

The airport said around 2,000 staff had been hired over the past year as business revived in the wake of pandemic-related curbs being removed.
