The main runway 18R/36L at Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Nigeria will be closed for maintenance for about 8 weeks starting this week, as per the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria circular. The closure of this runway is likely to affect the traffic flow and airline schedules.

Meanwhile all the take-offs and landings will be conducted on the alternative runway, 18L/36R for full-flight operations.

A Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) would be released to traffic controllers and other necessary stakeholders in the sector for safety.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport is Nigeria's biggest and busiest airport having recorded 7.3 million passengers in 2018. It is a hub for many Nigerian airlines, including Aero Contractors, Arik Air, Azman Air, Air Peace, and Ibom Air.
