MAAS Aviation appoints new US leader of operations

MAAS Aviation (MAAS) has named Geoffrey Myrick as the chief operating officer in Mobile, Alabama. MAAS has simultaneously achieved another milestone, opening its new twin bay MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) hangar on the Brookley complex.

Myrick is one of the company's most recent hires, furthering its commitment to the Gulf Coast, and North America. Myrick will serve as operations officer for both the existing OEM (original equipment manufacturing) hangar that supports Airbus Americas Inc., and a new twin bay MRO hangar that provides services to commercial aircraft carriers as well as lease companies, military and the corporate jet market. As COO, his primary duties will include the oversight of quality and production, organizational management, sales and customer relationship development for MAAS.

"Airbus and VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering have been vital partners for MAAS Aviation, and we want to continue to build on the foundational relationships we have established," states Myrick when asked about the company's plans for expansion. "Our goal is to build a sustainable track record with commercial carriers within North America, just as we have built our reputation within Europe as a leader within our scope of expertise.”

The new state-of-the-art aircraft hangar is an environmentally controlled twin-bay paint shop configured to support dual lines of narrow-body aircraft, up to a Boeing 757 and Airbus A321 concurrently. The new facility utilizes MAAS Aviation’s proprietary systems in the areas of building management, aircraft docking, and quality management. On-site capabilities include chemical stripping, sanding and external aircraft repainting, production of customer livery spray masks, decals, technical lettering, and mandatory markings, and engineering and maintenance support in cooperation with local partner VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering.

Myrick joins the team with insightful knowledge of the Mobile and Baldwin County area, coupled with a tactical background in the national aviation industry. Prior to joining MAAS, Myrick served as vice president of sales for Certified Aviation Services, LLC, where his focus was the creation and execution of sales strategies in the MRO market. In previous roles, Myrick spent approximately five years at VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering in various capacities centered around marketing, sales, and management. His expertise in leading new program start-up initiatives, industry forecasting, client interface at corporate levels, and MRO oversight, provides additional impact to the strength of the company's leadership team.
