The director general of Ukraine's Lviv International Airport has stated that she would like the Ukrainian airport to open for operations during the spring period of 2025.
Speaking to Ukrainian media outlet Vysokyi Zamok, Tetiana Romanovska stated that currently up to seven airlines are ready to operate in Lviv within a month of opening.
"Wizz Air, airBaltic, Turkish Airlines, Sky Up, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT are ready to fly from Lviv,” said Romanovska. “Most likely, Sky Up will try to return charter flights. They have a good network of routes in Europe. The same routes are ready to be operated from Lviv.”
Starting in April, SkyUp will launch flights from Chisinau, Moldova, to several European cities. Due to restrictions preventing Ukrainian airlines from operating regular flights in EU airspace, SkyUp has obtained a Maltese AOC to facilitate these operations. The airline will serve destinations in France, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, and Spain.
airBaltic confirmed last week that it is ready to reintegrate Kyiv and Lviv into its route network once the airspace is open and all needed confirmations are in place
Lviv’s Danylo Halytskyi airport closed for international flights in February 2022, after Ukraine shut down its airspace due to Russia's full-scale invasion.
