Lufthansa is all set to increase it Indian footprint by upgrading its aircraft on the Frankfurt-Mumbai route, replacing the older Airbus A340s with more fuel-efficient Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners from late October until mid-January 2024. The new aircraft will increase passenger capacity on the route from approximately 1,953 to 2,058 passengers per week.
Apart from the capacity difference, the B787 does not feature any first-class cabins, but has 26 seats in business class, 21 in premium economy, and 247 in economy class.
Lufthansa currently operates a once-daily non-stop flight from Frankfurt Airport to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
Just recently Lufthansa announced its resumption of Frankfurt-Hyderabad routes from January 16, 2024 deploying its B787-9 Dreamliner on the thrice-weekly route. The airline will also resume its Munich-Bengaluru this winter on A350-900.
