From tomorrow British Airways is increasing the fuel surcharge on its long-haul services. The rise, the first fuel surcharge increase for two years by the UK flag carrier, will add £10 to each single flight, which means some nine hour flights will garner a £76 surcharge.
The airline blames the “substantial” recent increase in the price of oil for the rise in surcharges.
The current oil prices are around $90 a barrel mark but all analysts expect them to rise above the $100 a barrel mark within six months. The International Air Transport Association too has warned that airlines that oil prices will rise next year.
