Lufthansa is planning to close down the German part of its JV with Turkish Airline, Sun Express, according to a company statement.
“After intense discussions and evaluating various options for the continuation of flight operations, all shareholders have taken the decision discontinue SunExpress Deutschland operations, which was agreed on during a meeting on 23 June,” the firm announced.
SunExpress Germany previously flew to a number of different leisure destinations, and also flew on behalf of Lufthansa-owned LCC Eurowings.
The carrier was operating a fleet more than a dozen Boeing 737-800, as well as some Airbus A330-200 which it wet-leased to Eurowings.
