Lufthansa Technik has invested in a new 54,000 square metre facility in Portugal.

The facility is set to expand the company’s capacity for the repair of engine parts and aircraft components.

The Lufthansa Technik Portugal facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The company said it will be equipped with the latest technologies in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry.

Harald Gloy, chief operating officer of Lufthansa Technik said: "Lufthansa Technik is pursuing ambitious growth targets and we want to further expand our position as the global market leader in the MRO sector in the future.”

Lufthansa Technik expects that the new facility will create more than 700 new jobs.
