Lufthansa Technik in MRO deal with Smartlynx

Lufthansa Technik has signed a seven-year "total component support" contract covering SmartLynx Airlines' fleet of over 60 aircraft.

Smartlynx, described by Lufthansa Technik as "the leading ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance), cargo and charter services provider", operates 53 Airbus A320s, ten A330s and four Boeing 737 MAXs and is part of Avia Solutions Group.

The contract went into effect on May 1 and takes in services "such as spare parts pooling and MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul) for the required components", Lufthansa's maintenance business announced on May 10.

"We are very proud to be the new component provider for SmartLynx Airlines. I would like to thank them for their trust in
Lufthansa Technik and our state-of-the-art TCS services which promise excellent quality and assistance for the highest performance," said Kai-Stefan Roepke.

"As we gear up for the busy summer season, the safety and comfort of our customers continue to be our top priority. Last year we faced challenges due to the pandemic's lingering effects on spare part availability, and we are fully committed to avoiding any repeat of those difficulties this year," said Zygimantas Surintas, chief executive of SmartLynx.
