Lufthansa has stated it intends to maintain its current aircraft delivery schedule in spite of current difficult market conditions and a recent profit warning.
The airline recently took delivery of its 14th B747-8, and during the handover ceremony, Lufthansa’s Head of Group Fleet Management, Nico Buchholz, said that while there were “no immediate plans to defer or cancel new deliveries given the short-term costs this would incur, some individual orders may be cancelled or postponed in the years to come.”
Lufthansa currently has an order backlog of 261 aircraft, including the A320ceo, A320neo, A350-900 and A380-800; and the B747-8 and B777-9X. The order book is worth up to €31bn.
