Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr has told employees that the its first Boeing 777-9 will not realistically arrive before the second quarter of 2022 – over a year later than planned. The comments were made to staff and were reported by Executive Traveller, although they have not been confirmed by Lufthansa.
Lufthansa has 20 777-9s on order with 14 options – the aircraft type will debut a new business class seat for the airline.
Emirates – which has 150 777-9s on order – has already announced that it does not expect its first deliveries until 2022.
