In June 2017, Wizz Air carried 2,487,553 passengers – an increase of 23.6% over the prior year period on the back of a 22.8% rise in capacity to 2,693,770 seats. Load factor for the month rose by 0.6 percentage points to 92.3%.
In the 12 months to the end of June 2017, Wizz Air’s passenger numbers rose to 25,217,234 – up by 20.9% over the past year – with a 18.1% increase in capacity. Load factor rose by 2.1 percentage points to 90.5%.
Wizz Air continued to expand its network and operations. The airline began operations at its 28th base in London-Luton; and expended its network with seven new routes announced to/from Romania (3x), Hungary (2x), and Bulgaria (2x).
Also this month, Wizz Air placed an order for an additional ten Airbus A321ceo aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney’s V2500 engine to be delivered in 2018 and 2019. The airline also took delivery of two brand new Airbus aircraft comprising of one A320ceo and one A321ceo aircraft taking the fleet to 83 aircraft.
