Lufthansa Group said it is reorganising cooperation in the company to better align and bring closer together its airline subsidiaries. This will include its structure, processes, financial management framework, and cross-group collaboration.
“This will bring the airlines within the group closer together and enable them to operate in an even more integrated manner in the future,” the company read in a statement. “The aim is to strengthen and expand the market position of the hub airlines Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines in particular.”
This is also set to improve efficiency and profitability for the company.
Lufthansa said cooperation between its airlines will become “even more integrated and connected”. Network management for its short- and medium-haul flights of its hub airlines will be steered group-wide, and will be done in close collaboration with the airlines. This model, Lufthansa said, has been “successfully established” for its long-haul flights.
The group will be managed primarily by ‘group function boards' which will include representatives from both the airlines and the group functions. IT functions will be consolidated too.
The company aims to implement these changes by New Year.
