The LATAM Group is to begin offering onboard Wi-Fi on its wide-body aircraft for long-haul services, such as trans-Pacific routes from South America to Australia and services to Europe.
This new service will involve a total investment of $60 million and will be implemented in 2026, complementing the connectivity already available on short and medium-haul flights. The group projects that by the end of this year, 100% of its narrow-body fleet across all subsidiaries will be equipped with this service.
This advancement has been facilitated through a commercial agreement with satellite communications provider Viasat. The selected technology, Viasat Amara, combines a multi-orbital network of geostationary (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
LATAM currently operates the largest connected fleet in the region, with over 250 aircraft equipped with Wi-F.
