Korean Air and Delta launch remote baggage screening on Seoul to Atlanta route

Korean Air and Delta Air Lines have introduced a new International remote baggage screening (IRBS) system on flights between Incheon International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, aiming to streamline travel and reduce connection times for transpacific passengers.

The IRBS system allows checked baggage to be X-ray screened in South Korea, with images securely sent to US customs and border protection for remote review before the flight lands.

The new process eliminates the need for passengers to reclaim and recheck bags on arrival in the Us cutting connection times by around 20 minutes.

The system is expected to benefit nearly 300,000 annual travellers on the route between Seoul and Atlanta.
