KfW IPEX-Bank repositions to focus on sustainability

KfW IPEX-Bank has announced that the bank will be repositioned with an increased focus on sustainability aspects to support customers in their transformation, while the bank will group seven sector departments together into four forward-looking sectors.

The bank's focus is on the aspects of sustainability and transformation of the economy as well as on the ability to respond flexibly to changing customer needs. At the same time KfW IPEX-Bank will continue to provide structured finance for exports and infrastructure in future as well as financing for global climate change mitigation and supplies of raw materials in Europe.

As a result of the reorganisation, the sector know-how from seven sector departments to date has now been pooled into four future-oriented sectors: the energy sector for the transformation of the energy industry, primarily wind power, solar energy and hydrogen, as well as water and waste management infrastructure,  which will be led by Global Head Peter Purkl; the mobility sector for the transformation of the maritime industry and aviation as well as climate-friendly mobility & transport, led by Carsten Wiebers; the infrastructure sector for digital infrastructure, charging infrastructure, grid-based energy infrastructure, air and sea ports as well as the construction industry, among others, which is led by Aida Welker; and the industry & commerce sector for metal and mining, commodity trading, financial institutions, the automotive industry and retail, among others, headed by Wolfgang Behler.

“We will increasingly take sustainability aspects into account in our financing offers in terms of Paris compatibility,” explained Klaus R. Michalak, CEO of KfW IPEX-Bank. “It is particularly important to all the members of the Management Board and my designated successor Belgin Rudack that this goes hand in hand with the transformation our customers are going through, which we closely accompany and support in order to contribute to the long-term goal of a climate-neutral economy and society.”
