Kenya Airways and China Eastern Airlines have renewed their codeshare agreement, with the partnership reaffirming the airlines’ commitment to enhance connectivity between China and Africa.
The renewed agreement will Kenya Airways' passengers to access key domestic destinations within China, including Shanghai, Kunming, Hangzhou, and Nanjing. Similarly, China Eastern Airlines' customers can enter African networks via Nairobi to cities such as Dar es Salaam, Accra, Lagos and Johannesburg.
Martin Gitonga, Kenya Airways’ head of network planning and alliances commented: "This partnership reflects our commitment to providing connectivity into China and seamless travel for our customers.
He added: “As we strengthen ties with China Eastern Airlines, we are also contributing to the growing economic and cultural collaboration between Africa and China."
Additionally, the codeshare agreement also deepens ties, driven by robust trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges under initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) or the 'New Silk Road,' underscoring the strategic nature of the agreement.
