Juneyao Airlines is reportedly delaying the delivery of one 787-9 aircraft due to US President Trump’s tariffs on China, Bloomberg reported April 11, 2025, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Juneyao was expected to take delivery of the widebody aircraft in around three weeks' time but will now hold off. The aircraft is valued at $120 million.
Boeing has recently issued a warning to the US Senate Commerce Committee, cautioning that any kind of trade war could severely hinder its international sales, which account for 80% of its commercial aircraft business.
China is currently the only country that is still subject to import tariffs, after President Trump implemented a 90 tariff freeze for the rest of the global economy.
AerCap CEO Aengus Kelly also said earlier this month: “In an absolute worst-case scenario, a 25% increase across the board on tariffs… a Boeing 787 will up by $40 million. No one is going to pay that, and it won't happen."
In response to raised tariffs of 145% on Chinese goods by the US, Beijing has hit back, raising tariffs on US goods to 125% from 84%, as both Asian and US markets continue plunge.
