Jetstar signs deal with Tourism New Zealand

Low-cost Australian airline Jetstar and Tourism New Zealand have signed three-year marketing agreement worth $9 million in a bid to attract more visitors from Australia, Singapore, Japan and across the Asia region.
Under the deal Tourism New Zealand and Jetstar will contribute $1.5m a year each to campaigns including consumer events as well as print, online and television advertising and social media activities.
Qantas offers passengers free returns in goodwill gesture
Qantas is offering free return economy flights to more than 70,000 passengers affected by the grounding, which is completely separate to its compensation packages or any other payments.
The airline estimates the cost of the offer will be around $20 million, taking the cost of the grounding above $50 million.
The pilots' union today dismissed offering free tickets as a waste of airline money, pointing to a survey which they claimed showed people blamed the Qantas management more than unions for damaging the airline's reputation.
