The right wing of a Japan Airlines 787-9 collided with the tail of a parked Delta 737-800 at Seattle Tacoma International Airport on February 5, 2025, while the Dreamliner from Tokyo was taxiing to its gate.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) paused some flights to the airport as a result of the incident that occurred at around 10:40am local time. The FAA stated that the incident occurred in an area where both aircraft were in an area that is not under air traffic control.
The Delta 737-800 with 142 passengers was bound for Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and was waiting to be de-iced when it was struck by the Japan Airlines aircraft.
The FAA said it will investigate the incident.
