Airline Economics is saddened to learn aviation finance and leasing pioneer Jane O'Callaghan passed away from illness on Friday July 18, 2025.
She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family.
Jane is survived by her loving husband Mark Dargan, her sons Adam and Jeff, her mother Joy, sisters Sharon and Michele, and her brother Peter, as well as her daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and her friends in the aviation sector.
High Ridge Aviation, of which Jane was a valued member of its board of directors, said Jane was a “legend” in the aviation finance and leasing industry and a “truly wonderful person”.
Jane began her three decade-long career in 1987 in GPA and spent much of her career in the C suite of leading aviation leasing companies. She held senior commercial roles at companies such as GECAS, Pembroke Capital, Aircastle, ALAFCO, and AMCK Aviation.
“I had the privilege of working with Jane at GPA, GECAS, and Pembroke Capital,” said former colleague industry veteran Phil Bolger on LinkedIn. “She shattered glass ceilings with grace and determination in the aircraft leasing industry, where her personality, expertise, and leadership left a lasting mark.”
Bolger noted how Jane “deftly navigated the then male dominated" business landscape with “uncommon brilliance and warmth”.
“Jane was a dynamic and inspiring force who played a key role in shaping Aircastle's success,” Aircastle said in a statement. “Her drive, dedication and deep commitment left a lasting impact on the platform we built together. Beyond her professional achievements, Jane’s warmth, energy and generous spirit touched everyone who had the privilege to work with her. She was not only a valued colleague, but also a tremendous friend and mentor. Jane will always be remembered.”
Reactions to her sad passing reminisced over her warmth and kindness, with many recognising her as both an inspiration and a trailblazer in the sector. As the industry continues to broaden its reach, Jane will be fondly remembered as a beacon for women in aviation.
We at Airline Economics extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Jane O'Callaghan — a bright spark in the industry whose light will continue to shine through all those she inspired.
