The Italian government is set re-nationalise the carrier Alitalia as part of its economic stimulus plan to deal with the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic.
The plan was outlined in a government decree published late on Monday night and Italian news agency AGI, speculated that this up to 600 million euros ($670 million) to re-nationalise the airline.
The move came as part of a 25 billion euro economic stimulus package outlined by the Italian government on Monday, which included the creation of a new company to take over Alitalia. The company previously filed for bankruptcy in 2017, as it struggled to compete with low cost carriers.
