The Sri Lanka Government is planning to launch a Budget Airline in Sri Lanka as soon as possible according to a statement by the Sri Lankan Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva.
The minister said that several countries currently operate budget airlines, and as Sri Lanka has no such service yet, it is essential to consider the option and prepare a work plan in this regard, reports Daily News.
With several airports in the country, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said they are operated with proper safety arrangements and standards for aircraft operating in Sri Lanka’s air space, ensuring safe landing and take-off.
“Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Service has assured that it is working in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization for this purpose,” he further added.
