India's Vistara takes six ex-Jet 737s

India-based Vistara will add six Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet that previously belonged to distressed airline Jet Airways - which ceased operations after the consortium of Indian lenders, led by the State Bank of India (SBI), refused to provide critical interim funding, Jet Airways said that it was unable to pay for fuel or other critical services to keep the operations going.

Vistara is seeking to fill the space left by Jet Airways, and will also see the group make its first moves toward using Boeing aircraft, following the group's preference to utilising A320 aircraft.

It's being reported that the airline will also vie for airport slots which previously had belonged to Jet Airways, in the future.

In another recent move aimed to expand its operations, Vistara also added 14 new flights in April, mostly from Mumbai, to meet the peak summer demand.
