Icelandair has selected RTX's Pratt & Whitney (P&W) GTF engines to power up to 35 new A320neo family aircraft, comprised of a mix of leased and purchased A321XLR and A321LR aircraft. It marks the first GTF purchase from the airline. The agreement will also provide the airline with long-term MRO services for the engines.
""With these GTF-powered A321XLR and A321LR aircraft, Icelandair and Pratt & Whitney are renewing a relationship, which started more than 80 years ago,"" said P&W president of commercial engines Rick Deurloo.
Icelandair CEO and president Bogi Nils Bogason said: ""With these GTF engines, we will maximise the range and efficiency of our new Airbus aircraft.""
