ICELAND EXPRESS LAUNCHES FLIGHT TO EDINBURGH

Iceland Express is planning to launch flights between Edinburgh and Iceland in a bid to attract transatlantic passengers to fly via Reykjavik. The route, which will operate between June and August, will connect with the carrier’s flights to New York, Boston and Chicago. The twice weekly flight will step up competition with local rival Icelandair, which has dominated the Iceland to Scotland service for the past 65 years.

Matthias Imsland, Iceland Express chief said: “No other airline offers direct flights between these destinations and Reykjavik, so we are delighted to fill this gap.”

A Boeing 737-700s will be used on the Edinburgh route, which will feed passengers onto Boeing 757-200s on its transatlantic routes.
