Hybrid Air Vehicles to build production site at Doncaster
Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) has announced its intentions to locate the production programme for its Airlander 10 in Doncaster, England; with the 50-hectare site instrumental in the airship’s production, testing and certification operations. The facility will have the capacity to produce up to 24 aircraft a year. The announcement of the production site builds on a previous agreement with the Mayor of Doncaster and the Mayor of South Yorkshire, Oliver Coppard, first agreed in March 2023. “Together we are building a bigger and better economy across all of South Yorkshire, and world leading sustainable aviation is a vital part of that plan,” he explained. “Airlander 10 will transform what’s possible for sustainable air travel, and Carcroft Common will deliver the flagship production centre we need to do that, creating over 1,200 jobs and a £1bn per annum export,” commented Tom Grundy, CEO of Hybrid Air Vehicles. “Our vision to rethink clean flight has been met with robust support at every step of the way by City of Doncaster Council and South Yorkshire region”. Hybrid Air Vehicles adds that the Airlander 10’s production “at a purpose-built factory in South Yorkshire will begin in 2024 and will be centre of a green advanced manufacturing boom in the region”.
