Hong Kong Airlines plans to begin trans-Pacific operations to North America in 2017 with the start of services to Vancouver.
Effective 30 June next year, Hong Kong Airlines will operate daily direct flights between Hong Kong and Vancouver using its 283-seat, two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The airline will compete with Air Canada and Cathay Pacific on the route.
This route marks the latest phase of Hong Kong Airlines’ long-haul expansion; in January 2016 the airline started flying to Australia and earlier this month it launched its inaugural route to New Zealand.
And this growth will continue in future; the airline has outstanding orders for 15 new Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft, with the first delivery set for the third quarter of 2017.
