Hong Kong’s Greater Bay Airlines will cancel 128 flights over February and March, with the carrier citing a delay in new aircraft deliveries and the need to inspect existing aircraft.
The carrier issued a statement on January 22, 2025, acknowledging that an internal review revealed negligence in its flight scheduling process. "We have also taken immediate action to tighten up the relevant approval procedure for flight scheduling," the airline said.
Greater Bay Airlines currently operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft and expects deliveries of 737 MAX 9 aircraft between 2025 and 2027.
In total, flight cancellations will affect 5,500 passengers over the affected period, with the airline emphasising that these cancellations will not impact services during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
