Global passenger demand saw a 5% increase during May, according to new data from IATA.
Passenger demand on international routes rose 6.7% compared to the year prior, while domestic demand saw a 2.1% increase on May 2024.
Asia-Pacific airlines saw the largest increase in demand, totalling 13.3%, while capacity increased 10.6%. African airlines saw a 9.5% increase in demand, while Latin American carriers saw an 8.8% increase in demand.
Overall global capacity also saw a 5% increase.
Load factor during the month averaged at 83.4%, a 0.1 percentage point decrease compared to May of last year.
